This weather, paired with vaccinations, means summer cookouts just might be on the menu. It’s been a while since you fired up your grill for friends and family, which means you’ve gotta go big this year like with your own summer cookout Bourbon BBQ Sauce recipe. We’re not saying you have to practice to perfect what you’ll serve next, but it certainly couldn’t hurt.
Most serious grillers have their own BBQ sauce recipe. If you’re not quite at this level, we’re happy to provide guidance with one of our favorite recipes – a Bourbon BBQ Sauce that’s easy to whip up and adjust to your liking.
This BBQ sauce recipe perfectly combines the smokiness of some of our partners’ bourbons with the smokiness of your grilling expertise. Here are a few bottles that work well with this recipe:
Ingredients
- 1 ½ cups ketchup (no sugar added works best for this recipe)
- 1 cup bourbon
- ½ cup coconut sugar
- ¼ cup apple cider vinegar
- 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tablespoon liquid smoke
- 1 tablespoon dijon mustard
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
Directions
Place all the ingredients into a small pot over medium-high heat. Stir well then bring the pot to a boil. Reduce the heat so that it bubbles gently and continue to cook (with the lid off) for 15 minutes, or until the sauce reduces to about 1 ¾ cups. Store for up to 2 weeks in your fridge or up to 3 months in your freezer.
